Sustainability for us

We provide electricity, natural gas and district heating to more than 520,000 customers: households and businesses with whom we are building a transparent relationship, supported by a strong local presence. Alongside energy supply, we also support our customers in the transition towards more sustainable mobility, offering e-mobility solutions such as electric vehicle charging services and dedicated offers, thus contributing to more efficient, low-emission mobility.

Every day we strive to create shared value in the territories and communities where we operate, combining our industrial objectives with the socio-economic development of the areas in which we carry out our activities.

We work with respect for the ecosystem, people and communities and are responsible for the way we manage water resources, for the safety and impact of our plants and for the wellbeing of the people who work with us.

From 2020 we offset our operational emissions (Scope 1 and Scope 2) and have set ourselves the target of reaching Net Zero by 2040. The reductions validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) are based on relative targets (Target 1 and Target 2) and absolute targets (Target 3) and follow a defined methodology that ensures the robustness of our commitments. SBTi-validated reductions, with 2022 as the base year, include both short-term targets (2032) and long-term targets (2040 – achieving Net Zero) and cover the main emission categories across the value chain.

In particular, for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions from the generation and sale of electricity and heat, a reduction of 60% by 2032 and 90% by 2040 is planned.

We believe in constant dialogue with our stakeholders. By listening to each other and exchanging knowledge and experience, we established 16 material topics on which Alperia has built its Sustainability Plan 2022-2027.

Any updates, as well as the progress made in achieving the objectives, are communicated annually through the Consolidated Financial Statements.

anchor our governance to sustainability and build an integrated governance model;
create long-term economic value and make our business model resilient;
ensure a secure, efficient and sustainable energy supply;
ensure maximum safety in our plants, the protection of personnel, the population and the surrounding areas (asset integrity);

We want to:

make 100% of our business activity green, increasing the share of sustainable products and services and customers served by district heating, while improving the offer of charging stations for e-mobility.;
offer our clients quick and solution-oriented customer service and increase awareness of green solutions by building knowledge of the energy transition and promoting energy efficiency projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

We want to:

minimise the impact of our hydroelectric power plants on nature and the environment and actively protect the biological diversity of waterways;
make our energy consumption more efficient through measuring instruments for energy monitoring and energy efficiency projects;

We want to:

create added value in terms of jobs, taxes, supply contracts and social engagement activities;
manage the supply chain in a sustainable manner, with the establishment of minimum ecological and social requirements in tenders, supplier selection, evaluation and audit of suppliers;
carry out constant monitoring and maintenance activities to ensure safe plants, avoid breakdowns and inefficiencies for customers and eliminate inefficiencies and the waste of resources and energy.

We want to:

recognise differences and actively manage them, promote female empowerment through leadership programmes aimed at women, professional development paths and work-life balance measures;
promote the wellbeing and quality of life of our employees and ensure the highest level of safety by implementing all necessary measures (e.g., ergonomic courses) to reduce the risks arising from our activities;
create an appreciative, open and welcoming working environment to increase the employee satisfaction index;
support professional development with tailored training paths, valuing the specific skills of the various generations and implementing career development programmes.

We operate daily to ensure the reliability of our plants and the continuity of service through constant maintenance and monitoring activities.

Digital challenges

The Group’s digitalisation journey continues in a structured and ongoing manner. Alperia has strengthened its governance in the areas of Cyber Security and Data Protection by adopting risk management and monitoring systems, assessing ISO 27001 certification on an annual basis and promoting a culture of security through training and awareness initiatives for employees.

Focus on our team

People are our strength. We invest in the development of the people who work with us, fostering an inclusive and fair environment. Alperia’s commitment is reflected, among other things, in the adoption of a dedicated Diversity Policy, the introduction of a Diversity Manager role, and the establishment of a Steering Committee for Gender Equality, which supports the implementation of Diversity and Inclusion measures.

To support these commitments, the Group has obtained the UNI/PdR 125:2022 Gender Equality certification and, for Alperia Greenpower, the PAS 24000 social certification, while also promoting work-life balance policies and training initiatives on inclusive communication.

The Plan to reduce emissions

In order to achieve the Net Zero target by 2040, a set of actions has been defined across all major emission categories: reduction of Scope 1 emissions through increased energy production from renewable sources, the gradual transition to district heating plants powered by biomass or other low-carbon sources, the electrification of the corporate fleet, and energy efficiency measures within operations; for Scope 2 emissions, the decarbonisation pathway is based on the full transition to renewable electricity, combined with the reduction of network losses; finally, with regard to Scope 3 emissions, the strategy includes increasing the sale of renewable electricity, alongside the development of biomethane sales and district heating.

Commitment to customers

Our sustainable products and services

100% of the energy sold to residential customers comes from renewable sources certified by Guarantees of Origin (GO). We have also strengthened our presence among SMEs based outside South Tyrol, encouraging them to adopt renewable energy and carbon-offset gas. In addition, we support companies in adopting renewable energy and carbon-compensated gas, offering decarbonisation consulting services to guide them in reducing emissions and transitioning towards more sustainable energy models.
